By the end of 2022, AMC Entertainment will not only accept Bitcoin (BTC) payments for movie tickets, but will also include other popular digital currencies in its cryptocurrency acceptance policy.
In a tweet on Thursday, CEO Adam Aaron announced AMC’s plans to accept three more cryptocurrencies – Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
As Cointelegraph previously reported, AMC initially announced plans to accept Bitcoin payments for online movie tickets before the end of the year.
At the time, Aaron said that moviegoers were concerned about using cryptocurrency as a means of paying for tickets and perks at AMC offices in the United States.
The head of AMC also said the company is working on finalizing methods for accepting crypto payments.
As with the August announcement, Aaron’s tweet revealing plans for an expanded cryptocurrency adoption program drew strong criticism from Dogecoin (DOGE) supporters for not including the popular “meme coin.”
The adoption of AMC cryptocurrencies is also part of a development trend that has shown prominent retail institutions to support cryptocurrencies throughout the United States.

The cinematographer’s cryptocurrency implementation plan came amid rising revenues after a difficult 2020.
Amid the closure of the coronavirus, which marked most of 2020, AMC’s revenues declined, with only $ 18.9 million recorded in Q2 2020. The cinema operator reportedly generated $ 444 million in revenue in the second quarter of 2021.
This rise in earnings also came amid a sharp rise in the company’s share price. In fact, AMC was one of those promotions that r / Wallstreetbets flocked to Reddit during their short lobby saga earlier in the year.
At the time of writing, the share of AMC has increased by more than 2200% since the beginning of the year.
